Heat Warning in Effect - Week of June 17

Please be advised a heat warning is in effect today, June 17, and expected to continue through the week. Temperatures are expected to reach 30 to 35 degrees with humidex from 40 to 45. Overnight temperatures are expected to be 20 to 23 degrees with humidex from 26 to 30. During this time, it is important to monitor yourself and others and watch for signs of heat illness.

These high temperatures and humidity can also affect air quality. Please keep this in mind when outside and utilize the various cooling stations within the town:

  • Scugog Community Recreation Centre: 8:30am to 7pm
  • Scugog Memorial Public Library: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10am to 6pm; Tuesday and Thursday 10am to 9pm; Saturday 10am to 5pm; Sunday 1pm to 5pm
  • Birdseye Pool: Monday to Friday 1 to 8pm; Saturday and Sunday 10:30am to 6:00pm (check schedule to see when public programs are running)
  • Splash Pad: 9am to 8pm

Stay safe, monitor yourself and your environment, drink lots of water, and take advantage of these cooling stations when needed.
