Join us Friday, September 27, for a complimentary event in honour of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

We will be hosting our local schools for a free community event Friday, September 27, at 1:00pm for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in the park north of the boat launch; the rain location is set at the Scugog Community Recreation Centre.

This event will display artwork from local students on ‘What the MSIFN means to me,’ see the unveiling of a land acknowledgment plaque at our Pollinator Garden (weather permitting), a museum exhibit of Indigenous artifacts as well as greetings from Mayor Wotten and Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation's Councillor Jeff Forbes.

The Palmer Park gazebo will also be lit up orange in recognition and flags at the Municipal Office will be lowered to commemorate the victims of residential schools.

We encourage everyone to take time to recognize and honour the day, and to wear an Orange Shirt if possible as a representation of the message. Further information about the day can be found on our Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation (MSIFN) page.
