Reminders for Burning within the Township of Scugog

Scugog – Reminder to residents and visitors ahead of the long weekend that all burning in Scugog requires a valid burn permit. Burn permits must be valid for the 2025 year and pertain to the type of burning you are doing. If you do not already have a 2025 burn permit, you can acquire one online through our Burn Permits page.

Please ensure that you are familiar with and comply with all conditions and restrictions associated with the type of burn permit you have. These include minimum setback requirements as well as size and time of burn. All burns require a means of extinguishment and supervision by a competent adult.

We also remind residents to be aware of ground and weather conditions. Do not burn in high winds or other conditions that could result in fire spread.

Frequently Asked Questions can be found on our Burn Permits page, and Fire Administration is available for support during regular office hours through fire@scugog.ca, 905-985-2834 ext.200, or in-person at 30 Crandell Street, Port Perry.

Please note that the Fire Administration Office will be closed Friday, April 18, to Monday, April 21, for the Easter Weekend. The office will reopen at 8:30 a.m. Monday, April 22.
