Scugog Shores Museum Village and Archives Receives Tourism Growth Program Support to Improve Tourism Offerings

The Scugog Shores Museum Village is receiving $55,000 in funding, through the Government of Canada’s Tourism Growth Program, to improve tourism activities. This investment, made by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), includes support for projects aimed at expanding the tourism season through September 2024 to May 2025, by offering tours and workshops, developing a long-term tourism plan and hosting the travelling exhibit “MIIJIM: Traditional Foods of the Lake of the Woods Anishinaabe” from May 26, 2025 to December 19, 2025.

“Supporting enhanced tourism activities at the Scugog Shores Museum Village goes beyond the tourism sector and will have positive impacts on key sectors like hospitality, arts and culture and infrastructure, while creating a space for gathering and learning,” says the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for FedDev Ontario. “The Government of Canada's strategic investments are making a difference for rural communities like Port Perry for those who call it home and those who come to visit.”

“Thank you to the Government of Canada for supporting tourism education programming initiatives at the Scugog Shores Museum Village. We are proud of our shared heritage and look forward to welcoming visitors to experience the village and explore all we offer.” Scugog Mayor Wilma Wotten.
