Tree Debris Disposal

Scugog – Following the freezing rain storm event this past weekend, the Township of Scugog would like to advise residents of options when it comes to cleaning up fallen trees and debris. Although there is currently no burn ban in place in the Township of Scugog, any burning within the township requires a valid 2025 burn permit. Burn permits can be obtained through our Burn Permits page. Only General or Agricultural burn permits allow for the burning of brush. Please ensure that you have a valid permit and comply with all burning guidelines and requirements.

Alternatively, bi-weekly yard/waste pick up begins the week of April 7 in the Township of Scugog. Brush must be securely tied in bundles up to one metre (three feet) long and 76 centimetres (30 inches) wide. No branch should be more than 10 centimetres (4 inches) in diameter. Additionally, the Durham Waste Management Facility in Scugog is now open and will temporarily accept storm related yard waste. Standard fees will be waived for dedicated loads of yard waste. For more information, visit Durham Region's Waste Management Facilities page.
