Park and Play

Join our camp leaders for FREE games, sports, crafts and more all throughout Scugog! This program will bring the fun of Camp Scugog to local parks in our township for children aged 5 to 12 years. Arrivals and Departures

Registration is not required. Each location will operate on a first come, first serve basis with a maximum of 20 participants. 

A parent/guardian will be required to sign their child(ren) in with the camp staff, complete a waiver (one required for the summer) and must be within a 10 minute distance from the park with access to a mobile phone should they need to be contacted.

Fill out your waiver ahead of time and bring the copy with you. Forms will also be available onsite at the program location.

At the end of the program, a parent/guardian will be required to present photo ID matching the contact information listed before picking up their child(ren). Participants 10 years of age and older walking home from the park and play program must fill out a Permission to Sign Out Form. You can fill out your Permission to Sign Out form ahead of time or forms will also be available onsite at the program location.

Please note that washrooms and access to water are not available at Apple Valley Park.

The park and play program runs weekly from July 7 to August 22, 2025 and will not run on August 6 (Civic Holiday). Programs run from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. There is no supervision during lunch hour.

Mondays: Ianson Park at 1222 Cragg Road, Greenbank

Tuesdays: Palmer Park at 175 Water Street, Port Perry

Wednesdays: Seagrave Park at 69 Coryell Street, Seagrave

Thursdays: Apple Valley Park between 9 and 11 Orchard Road, Port Perry

Fridays: Pioneer Park at 3440 Church Street, Blackstock

Jul 7-11: Mini Game Challenge

  • Come join us this week for a fun-filled challenge featuring a variety of Minute-to-Win-It games! Test your skills, put your knowledge to the test, and get ready for plenty of laughs along the way!

Jul 14-18: Explore Nature

  • What better way to explore nature than in our own local parks? This week, kids will dive into nature-themed active games and get creative with crafts made from materials found in the great outdoors.

Jul 21-25: Splish Splash

  • Dive into the fun with a splash! Enjoy water balloon tosses, bubble games, water relays, and so much more for a week full of water activities!

Jul 28-Aug 1: Summer Olympics

  • Gear up for the Park & Play Olympics! Test your skills in fun and friendly competition as we celebrate summer with Olympic-style events and challenges!

Aug 5-8*: Spectacular Science

  • Our Park and Play leaders are turning into traveling scientists with some wild and wacky experiments! Kids will have a blast watching the fun science tricks and even get hands-on to create their own cool experiments.*Note this is a short week and there is no program Monday at Ianson Park.

Aug 11-12: Creative Crafting

  • Unleash your inner artist! This week, kids will get creative in the parks with a variety of fun craft projects. They'll make their own masterpieces while having a blast with hands-on activities!

Aug 18-22: Backyard Games Championships

  • It’s time to bring out the classics! Bean bag toss, horseshoes, washer toss, and more! Each park location will team up to earn the most points and claim victory in the Backyard Games Championships.

  • Wear closed-toed shoes
  • Bring a water bottle
  • Bring a hat
  • Wear sunscreen

Please note electronics, toys, items of value, etc. should not be on site at any time. The Township of Scugog is not responsible for any lost or stolen items as a result of being brought to the program.

The park and play program is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather and heat warnings. In the event of sudden severe weather, parents/guardians will be contacted to pick up their children. Parents/guardians must be within a 10-minute distance from the park at all times. Get the most current updates by following our Instagram Page @RecScugog.

  1. Are the children supervised over the lunch hour?

    No there is no supervision during the lunch hour. Children are asked to be picked up or to return home and may return at 1:00 pm for more activities.

  2. Are there washrooms available at each program location?

    Washrooms and access to water are not available at the Apple Valley Park location.  

  3. My child may need to use a puffer or EpiPen at the program. What do I do?

    You must complete the Permission to Administer Medication form that will be provided onsite, send the medication in the original prescribed container, and only send the correct dosage for the day. Any medication should be given to the Park and Play staff directly.
